New Members

Congratulations on your application approval. Should you complete your membership purchase prior to November 15th, 2020; you will be purchasing a short term membership which will expire December 31, 2020 and you will need to renew during the renewal period to continue membership for 2021, which runs from November 15th until December 31, 2020. If you will not be working (practicing) prior to November 15th, 2020 you may want to hold off your purchase until after the 2021 renewal period begins.

Below is an overview of the process:

  1. Enter and confirm any credit waivers or supplements that you are eligible for. More information on how to do so can be found here (Q8).
  2. Once the system has confirmed that you have enough credits to register for the current year, you will be able to proceed.
  3. Confirm your contact information, acknowledge (check) the informed consents to which you agree, next the system will redirect you to either purchase the required professional insurance through the group provider PROLINK or if you have third-party insurance, this must be verified and approved by the BCAK office prior to proceeding. More information about this can be found here.
  4. Upon completion of the insurance purchase or verification of your third-party insurance, you will be prompted to return to the BCAK website to complete the membership dues payment. (Note: Membership dues must be paid in order for group insurance coverage to be valid).
  5. Once your membership dues are paid (click here for more information about the membership fee schedule) a new tab in the menu bar at the top of the page, titled "Member Services" will become visible and you provide you with access to the benefits "Member Resources" which accompany your membership. (Note: this does not apply to Academic or Corporate Members).
  6. You may Generate a Membership Certificate should this be required for presentation to an employer or other entity related to work in public or private facilities. This document should be stored securely in paper or electronic format, along with your insurance certificate. The insurance certificate will have been emailed to you by PROLINK after completing the insurance purchase process, if you purchased through the group provider).
