Rachel graduated with her BA in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario in 2002, and her Master's in Kinesiology and Gerontology from Lakehead University in 2004. She pursued her doctoral studies in Physical Education at UVic between 2006 and 2010 focusing on Healthy Aging.
Rachel work in a clinic and in the community performing active rehabilitation programs for the treatment of musculo-skeletal injuries (e.g. motor vehicle accident, lower back pain, shoulder dysfunction). Through exercise prescription, Rachel addresses specific areas of strengthening, stretching, and/or stabilization to correct movement patterns, improve posture, and increase people's functional abilities for work and play.
Rachel is also a Yoga Instructor and takes a biopsychosocial approach to the treatment of injuries following a motor vehicle accident or injury. Rachel also enjoys working with older adults helping them to remain independent and prevent falls.
In her free time, Rachel enjoys exploring Vancouver Island through hiking. She also enjoys lifting weights at the gym, teaching bootcamp and spin classes, and practicing yoga.
