Melanie Sakowski is a Kinesiologist with a comprehensive background in human movement, somatic awareness, and integrative health. A graduate of the University of Western Ontario with an Honours Bachelor of Arts specializing in Kinesiology (2014), Melanie has developed a professional practice grounded in evidence-based movement science and holistic principles.
With a foundation in biomechanics and running mechanics, informed by experience as a triathlete, Melanie takes a multidisciplinary approach to optimizing movement efficiency and performance. Their work emphasizes functional movement, adaptability, and the integration of body awareness to enhance overall well-being.
Melanie has pursued continued education and mentorship under Dr. Craig Liebenson through the First Principles of Movement framework and frequently incorporates insights from Somatic Experiencing into clinical and coaching contexts. Ongoing collaboration and study with Lawrence Van Lingen have also served as key influences, contributing to a refined understanding of movement patterning, neuromuscular coordination, and somatic integration.
International study has further expanded Melanie’s professional foundation. Immersive training at The Yoga Institute in Mumbai, India, and certification in Holistic Nutrition from The Holistic Performance Nutrition Institute in New Zealand have informed a comprehensive, systems-based approach to human health and performance.
In professional practice, she emphasizes a collaborative and client-centered model of care, fostering autonomy and self-efficacy through education and guided self-discovery. The core philosophy underlying their work is that efficient, sustainable movement arises from a balanced relationship between structure, function, and awareness.
