Jacky immigrated to Canada with his family in 2001 and was raised in the neighbourhoods of Coquitlam. Growing up, Jacky was involved in many competitive team sports including basketball, volleyball, and track and field. It was his athletic background combined with his passion for learning about how the body works that drove Jacky to pursue a degree in Kinesiology.
In Spring 2017, Jacky graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in active health and rehabilitation at Simon Fraser University. During his time as a student, Jacky gained valuable experience and knowledge in injury management and prevention through working as a student team trainer for the SFU men’s basketball team, and assisting physiotherapists and athletic therapists with their treatment protocols at the SFU clinic.
Jacky’s view towards active rehabilitation is simple, and that is to help his clients restore the mobile and pain-free lifestyle everyone deserves. He believes the first step is to help clients understand their injury and then construct an exercise plan tailored to their specific needs and goals. Jacky also designs his exercise programs based on functionality, therefore, many of his exercises can be performed at home or work with minimal equipment. Jacky is constantly broadening his practical skills and knowledge by learning new treatment methods and techniques to further enhance the quality of his service.
Outside of the clinic, Jacky also works as a lifeguard and teaches swimming to the public. During his free time, you’ll most likely find him somewhere deep in the woods, either hiking or camping. He also enjoys photography, rock climbing, and competing in various long distance events. He recently completed his first Ironman in Whistler and Squamish50!
