College of Kinesiologists of Ontario Applicants

This pathway is for applicants who are current College of Kinesiologists of Ontario (COKO) members in good standing and are looking to apply for BCAK Professional Membership.

You will be required to submit your professional membership application and follow the application process outlined on the application pathways page for Canadian educated applicants.

  • Applicants applying under this pathway will be required to follow the same application procedures as other Canadian educated applicants.
  • Applicants applying under this pathway will only be accepted with a COKO membership from 2014 to present day (i.e. after the College was established in Ontario). Applicants must have completed the COKO entry-to-practice exam (i.e. a ‘grandfathered’ membership in COKO would not be ‘grandfathered’ by BCAK).
    • If you have completed the COKO entry-to-practice exam and can provide proof of successful completion through the letter of good standing from COKO, you will not be required to complete the BCAK Professional Competency Exam as part of your professional membership application.
    • If you have not completed the COKO entry-to-practice exam and/or cannot provide proof of successful completion, you will be required to complete the BCAK Professional Competency Exam as part of your professional membership application.
  • You will be required to submit proof of your active COKO registration as part of your application submission (i.e. a letter of good standing from COKO that also indicates your date of membership activation).

You will also be required to either:

  • Successfully complete a third-party professional practice and jurisprudence module accepted by the BCAK.

or

  • Successfully complete the BCAK professional practice and jurisprudence exam.

If the BCAK determines that the applicant meets all other academic requirements and work-integrated learning requirements for professional membership, they will

  • Receive an invitation to complete either the BCAK professional practice and jurisprudence exam, or
  • Complete a third-party professional practice and jurisprudence module accepted by the BCAK.

The applicant must notify the BCAK office with which option they choose to complete as part of their application so the appropriate registration details can be provided to the applicant.
