Shelby believes that every athlete has a unique path to follow, and that every training plan should be developed around the athlete’s individual goals—rather than fitting them into a predetermined training plan. He views the collaboration between athlete and coach as the key to helping athletes reach their highest potential.
Shelby uses a data-driven approach to training, creating individualized plans based on each athlete’s unique thresholds. By incorporating tools such as interval training and heart rate variability, he helps athletes train smarter, recover efficiently, and perform at their best.
With an in-depth understanding of the science of human performance and the rehabilitation of athletic injuries, Shelby leverages his formal education to help individuals define, pursue, and achieve their goals. He is passionate about guiding athletes through every stage of training and recovery, ensuring long-term performance and resilience.
Shelby is also a seasoned competitive athlete, having competed in multiple Ironman events, ITU Multisport World Championships, and numerous half-iron and standard-distance triathlons. He also enjoys the occasional cycling or running race—especially those that take him through the Okanagan Valley.
