Matthew graduated with a Bachelor of Science, Major in Kinesiology degree from SFU. While in his studies, he completed the Active Health and Rehabilitation concentration. He has also gained plenty of clinical experience throughout his degree in diverse settings. He has worked with patients with various conditions of all ages, from pediatrics to geriatrics. Specifically, Matthew worked as a student kinesiologist where he developed the necessary skillset of a proficient kinesiologist. He has also gained valuable patient care experience while volunteering at two pediatric physiotherapy clinics and working as a physiotherapy assistant. As a strength and conditioning intern, he assisted lead strength coaches in administering training sessions for SFU athletes. He has also done research in developing exercise search filters for researching evidence-based practices on academic search engines, a tool to be used by practitioners to alleviate their workload.
Matthew believes in combining patients' lived experiences with his expertise to create personalized exercise programs. By consciously considering the patients' goals, he facilitates an environment where they feel empowered to take control of their health. He also believes in using evidence-based practices to not only aid in the patient's return to the activities that they love, but to also prevent re-injury.
